Developing your child’s Literacy skills

At My Happy Helpers we know that early in life, a child absorbs language with very little effort. Toddlers and babies create an internal understanding of the environemnt in which they live and extensive research has proven that the information avaliable to a child within his or her environment, greatly impacts longterm language development.

We aim to encourage all parents to embrace their childrens stories, experiences and opinons and support their children in taking an active role in decision making and problem solving.
Language can expressed in many ways, from written langauage (hand writing), to symbolic expressions, discovery and expressions of feelings and everyday reading and communication.
Dr Maria Montessori states that "Langauge is the central point of difference between the human species and all others. Lanugage lies at the root of that transformation of the environment that we call civilisation"
Here at My Happy Helpers, we have curated a beautiful range of languange development toys and tools so that you can take the guess work out of choosing which products will help suport and develop your little ones literacy and language skills the most.

Developing your child’s Numeracy skills

Following on from the previously mentioned philosopher, Maria Montessori used her understanding of child development to design a philosophy for teaching mathematics to the young child.
Montessori philosophy believes that all aspects of life - Practical, Language, Cultural, and Sensorial  - provide a foundation to contribute to a child’s mathematical ability.
Every day of their lives, children are exposed to numbers and math and it’s important to teach our children the mathematical concepts, rather than just mathematical memorisation.
Montessori philosophy is all about following your child and observing when your child is ready to learn a particular skill (not when you are ready to teach it, or when your neighbours child is ready to learn it)
Every child will learn at their own pace and in their own time. At My Happy Helpers, we simply aim to provide your family with the tools to support your child’s quest for knowledge.
